Training (CITI)

All investigators and key personnel who participate in the design, conduct, and/or reporting of human subjects research (including exempt research) must be trained in the protection of human subjects. WMed uses the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) web-based human research courses to satisfy this requirement.

Instructions for Completing CITI HSP Training (New Users)

  1. Go to听.
  2. Register where indicated.
  3. Complete the registration process as follows:
    • Step 1: Affiliate yourself with WMed by selecting 鈥溋喜士敝辈モ.
    • Step 2: Add Personal Information (name; email address)
    • Step 3: Create Username and Password
    • Step 4: Select Country of Residence
    • Step 5: Select "No." Continuing Education is not available
    • Step 6: Add your WMed email address (if you do not have a WMed email, use your institution's email)
    • Step 7: Select Question 2, choose听鈥楬uman Subjects and HIPAA Research鈥, skip all other questions, scroll down to 'Complete Registration'
  4. Select 鈥楩inalize Registration鈥
  5. Click 鈥榁iew Courses'
  6. Click 鈥楽tart Now鈥 under 'Courses Ready to Begin'
  7. Agree to your Assurance Statement and 'Submit'
  8. Complete the eight听required and the two elective modules; allow about 90 minutes to complete. There are several elective modules available and should be pertinent to your activities. It is not necessary to complete all the modules at the same time. You can return to the course to continue where you left off. Do not log off in the middle of the quiz as your completion will not be saved in the system.
  9. It is not necessary to complete all the modules in one sitting 鈥 you can return to the website anytime and pick up where you left off.听 However, don鈥檛 log off in the middle of an exam or you will lose it!听A minimum 鈥減assing鈥 aggregate score of 80% is required for each course.听You can re-enter each module and re-take each quiz to achieve a passing score as necessary.

Upon completion a听certificate will automatically be sent to the IRB electronically.听

Returning or Current User

  1. Log on to .
  2. Click on 'Log In' box
  3. Enter your Username and Password
    • To reset your Username or Password contact the IRB at irb@wmed.edu or听269.337.4345.
  4. Select 'View Courses'听under 六合彩开奖直播
  5. Verify your WMed email address (if you do not have a WMed email, use your institution's email)
  6. Select 'Add a Course'听under Learner Tools
  7. Select Question 2 and choose 'Human Subjects and HIPAA Research', skip all other questions, scroll down to 'Submit'
  8. Click 'Start Now' under 'Courses Ready to Begin'
  9. Agree to your Assurance Statement and 'Submit'

Returning or Current CITI User with Another Institution and Need to Affiliate with WMed

  1. Log on to
  2. Enter your existing Username and Password
  3. If assistance needed, contact CITI at 888.529.5929, press option 1, for help to reset your Username and/or Password.
  4. At the Main Menu, choose 'Click here to affiliate with another institution'
  5. Affiliate yourself with WMed by selecting '六合彩开奖直播'
  6. Once affiliated, Select Question 2, choose 'Human Subjects and HIPAA Research', skip all other questions, scroll down to 'Complete Registration'
  7. Select 'Finalize Registration'
  8. Select 'View Courses'
  9. Click 'Start Now' under 'Courses Ready to Begin'
  10. Agree to your Assurance Statement and 'Submit'
  11. Complete the eight required and the two elective modules; allow about 90 minutes to complete. There are several elective modules available and should be pertinent to your activities. It is not necessary to complete all the modules at the same time. You can return to the course to continue where you left off. Do not log off in the middle of the quiz as your completion will not be saved in the system.

Completion of the appropriate HSP courses will be required every 4 years from the date of completion listed on the previous CITI Completion Report documentation of training.听

An expiration reminder from the IRB will be emailed to you 90, 60, 30 and 7 days prior to expiration and 1-day post expiration. 听
