After what will be a decade-long tenure at the helm of WMed, Founding Dean Hal B. Jenson, 六合彩开奖直播, has announced that he will retire in 2021.

The national search for Dr. Jenson鈥檚 successor is now underway.

The next dean, who is expected to be named by early 2021, will join WMed at an opportune time in the institution鈥檚 evolution and have the opportunity to lead the development and formation of the medical school鈥檚 next four-year strategic planning process that will commence in 2022. In doing so, the new dean will get the chance to collaborate with the WMed Board of Directors, affiliate partners, faculty, residents, staff, and students, and have a key role in setting and guiding the medical school鈥檚 strategic direction for the foreseeable future.

Even more, WMed鈥檚 new leader will take over a medical school that has developed and grown rapidly since Dr. Jenson鈥檚 arrival in 2011 and the institution鈥檚 founding in July 2012. Under Dr. Jenson鈥檚 leadership, WMed experienced a number of key milestones and accomplishments, including the granting of full accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission and the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, as well as certification with the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, the medical school has graduated three classes of new doctors, all of whom successfully matched into a residency placement after their time at WMed.

鈥淪ince March 2011, I have had the honor and privilege of serving as the founding dean of WMed,鈥 Dr. Jenson said to the WMed community in February when he announced his retirement. 鈥淲e have accomplished significant milestones as a new medical school and focused on operational excellence to become even better. I hope you share the same sense of accomplishment that I have for the medical school that we, together, have created.

鈥淭he significance of what we have accomplished, and continue to accomplish, makes our work important,鈥 Dr. Jenson added. 鈥淏ut it is working with outstanding people that, to me, makes the work most rewarding. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.鈥

Dr. Jenson informed the WMed Board of Directors of his plans to retire last year to allow sufficient time for the coordination of a national search. That led to the Board selecting the search firm AMN Leadership to lead the search process. A 13-member search committee for WMed鈥檚 new dean was formed in early 2020 and is being led by WMU President Edward Montgomery, PhD, who also serves as chair of the Board of Directors.听

The search committee includes representatives from the Board of Directors, Ascension Borgess and Bronson Healthcare, as well as medical school faculty, leadership, students, residents, and staff.

鈥淔inding Dr. Jenson鈥檚 successor is a critical task and committee members have committed their time and effort over what will be an 11-month period to assist WMed in this important recruitment process,鈥 Dr. Montgomery said. 鈥淚 want to thank Dr. Jenson for his steadfast and unwavering leadership of the medical school over the last 10 years and his willingness to assist in what will be an important transition over the next year.鈥

The national search for WMed鈥檚 next dean officially began this week, and nominations and resum茅s will be accepted through the summer so that candidates can be presented to the search committee in September. It is anticipated that candidates will be on campus in late fall to participate in interviews and presentations to the WMed community.听
