We provide care for infants, children, and adolescents with diabetes and other endocrine disorders. Care of endocrine disorders is a team effort, so we provide you and your child鈥檚 primary care physician with support, resources, and information you need to care for your child. Appointments are by physician referral only.
Our Location
WMed Health Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes is located at 1000 Oakland Drive on the 1st floor in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and at 670 Mall Drive in Portage, Michigan. Parking is available adjacent to the building at both locations. Our practice is a non-smoking environment. We strive to provide a clean environment for our patients.

Recalls/Product Information Updates
From Freestyle Libre: We have initiated a voluntary recall for a small number of FreeStyle Libre 3 sensors that were distributed in the U.S. with lot numbers: T60001948, T60001966 and T60001969.鈥疨lease visit for more info.
Referrals
A referral by a healthcare provider is required. Referring providers should call 269.337.6289 or fax 269.337.6547. To make a referral in Epic, "Add Order" at the bottom of the right of the progress note or within the Meds and Orders section, search for the word "referral" and the Epic referral name WMed Pediatric Endocrinology.
Fees and Insurance
WMed Health Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes participates with many insurance providers, including Medicaid and Medicaid Health Plans. Before your first visit, check with your insurance company to understand what services will be paid for by your insurance plan. For every appointment, you will need to bring your insurance card(s). Co-pays are due at the time of service and accepted forms of payment are cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. If you have questions, our patient financial counselors are ready to help you. Endocrine Multidisciplinary Team
Our multidisciplinary team is available to see patients with diabetes who have Children鈥檚 Special Health Care (CSHC) insurance. Additionally, the multidisciplinary team is available for children with CSHC who have other qualifying diagnoses or any patient who needs any services provided by our multidisciplinary team. Our multidisciplinary team includes nursing staff, certified diabetes educator, registered dietician, medical social worker, and pediatric psychologist.
- Planning for Your First Visit
New Diabetes Patients
Please plan for your first visit to last approximately 2 to 3 hours. Your visit may be shorter or longer depending on your needs. At your first visit, you will meet with our multidisciplinary team which includes a diabetes educator, a medical social worker and /or pediatric psychologist and registered dietician.
It is recommended that you bring all of your diabetes supplies and medications including all glucose monitors, continuous glucose meter reader (if using), insulin pump, all of your diabetes supplies and insulins, and your blood glucose log. Feel free to brings snacks and drinks as needed for your diabetes.
New Endocrine Patients
If you had labs and/or diagnostic imaging (x-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound) done at a hospital other than Bronson Methodist Hospital/Outpatient Labs, please bring a copy of the labs and/or images on CD to your first visit.
