The medical school is pleased to welcome four new faculty members to its departments of Family and Community Medicine, Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics and Psychiatry.
Eric Edewaard, 六合彩开奖直播, is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Edewaard is an alumnus of Calvin College where he earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in biology in 2013. He completed his 六合彩开奖直播 degree in 2018 at 六合彩开奖直播. Dr. Edewaard went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at WMed in 2021.
Dr. Edewaard was among the first class of doctors to graduate from the medical school in 2018 and one of two students from that class to remain in Kalamazoo where he matched into the medical school's Internal Medicine residency program.
In June, Dr. Edewaard became the first alumnus to complete his residency training at WMed, and his hire makes him the first WMed graduate to become a member of the medical school's faculty.
Rheanne Maravelas, 六合彩开奖直播, is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Maravelas is an alumna of the University of Minnesota, where she earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in biology in 2012. She continued at the University of Minnesota for her 六合彩开奖直播 degree, completing her studies in 2016. Dr. Maravelas went on to complete a residency in Medicine-Pediatrics at WMed in 2020.
Prior to joining WMed as a faculty member, Dr. Maravelas worked as a hospitalist at Spectrum Health Lakeland and was a community faculty member at Central Michigan University.
In the Department of Psychiatry, Chetan Vyas, 六合彩开奖直播, has joined as an assistant professor of Psychiatry and as a child and adolescent psychiatrist.
Dr. Vyas is an alumnus of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he completed his pre-medical studies. He earned his medical degree from The Maharaja Sayajirao University and went on to complete a residency in General Psychiatry at Wayne State University School of Medicine, followed by a clinical fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Vyas has spent more than 30 years as a child and adolescent psychiatrist. He also has been active as a clinician and an administrator.
Prior to joining the medial school as a faculty member, Dr. Vyas worked as a contracted provider for WMed. He also has worked as a child and adolescent psychiatrist consultant for Bronson Rambling Road Pediatrics since 2019 and as a staff psychiatrist for Van Buren Community Mental Health Services since 2014.听
In the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Kari Beth Watts, DO, has joined the residency program in Battle Creek as an assistant professor.
Dr. Watts is an alumna of the University of Michigan, where she earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in anthropology. She went on to complete a fellowship in anatomy in 2013 from A.T. Still University and received her DO degree from there in 2015. Dr. Watts then completed a family medicine residency in 2018 at the University of Illinois.
Prior to joining the medical school, Dr. Watts worked as a family physician at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria, Illinois.
