Medical school welcomes Andromeda Nauli, PhD, to the Department of Biomedical Sciences

The medical school is pleased to welcome a new faculty member to its Department of Biomedical Sciences.

Andromeda (Andy) Nauli, PhD, started as a professor of pharmacology and therapeutics on February 21.聽

Dr. Nauli is an alumnus of University of South Alabama, where he earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in biomedical sciences. He obtained his PhD in pathobiology and molecular medicine from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He followed that with a postdoctoral research fellowship at The Scripps Research Institute Department of Cell Biology.

During his training. Dr. Nauli received American Heart Association predoctoral fellowship and postdoctoral fellowship awards.

Prior to joining WMed, Dr. Nauli served as a faculty member at the Irvine Matreials Research Institute at University of California - Irvine, and as an associate professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Marshall B. Ketchum University. Dr. Nauli also has served as a faculty member at California Northstate University College of Pharmacy, East Tennessee State University College of Public Health and ETSU College of Medicine.

Dr. Nauli has received several accolades throughout his teaching career, including receiving the MBKU College of Pharmacy P1 Teacher of the Year Award four times. He also is an experienced researcher, having been awarded more than $195,000 in competitive funding as principal investigator in his research on topics including dietary fat absorption and red meat allergy.

He has published numerous studies in medical journals, has served as an editor on several publications and has collaborated on several textbook chapters on mechanobiology.聽
